Gin with a Twist

Ginebra San Miguel is one of a famous liquor company here in Philippines. One of their products called “gin bilog” is commonly brought from sari-sari store by people who want to get drank. One group fans of this liquor called shembot girls in a small sitio in one of the brgy. in Antipolo City. This group is composed of the housewives in the said sitio and every time there is celebrations this drink called shembot is the common for them.

What is shembot? Shembot is composed of gin bilog, water, and powdered juice. But in the part of the shembot girls they make a twist which is to burn the alcohol content. Things to prepare: 0.5 liter of water in a 1.0 liter of pitcher, “gin bilog”, 30g powdered juice (any flavor will do), and cube ice. Here under are the steps of how to make the shembot:

1.      Open the “gin bilog” and pour the half to the pitcher.

2.      Put the 30g powdered juice to the half bottled gin and shake it well.

3.      Pour the gin with juice but while your pouring it, get a lighter or match and lit the mouth of the bottle until it flare.

4.      As the gin flare put immediately the bottle to the pitcher. Notice that the bottle sip the liquid. Then, pour the sipped water to the pitcher and get the stirrer and stir the shembot.

5.      You can also have the sliced lemon or sliced apple and put it in the pitcher.

It tastes like juice with a bit of gin. Since the bottle was flared the alcohol content get lessen so even if they drink one box or more of gin bilog in a celebration it won’t cost much because in one bottle and one pack of powdered juice is less than 50 pesos. It doesn’t even have a heavy hung over. Shembot is not just for ladies it could also be for gentlemen.

TAGAY NA!!!! :)
